What Body Image Means to Dumb Mom of parenting BY dummies

blogger body 2011

My body image has always been questionable at best.

Like what is this roll doing here?

Hair? Why would that have hair on it?

Another 3 pounds? Really? I swear I crapped three pounds this morning, so how could that be?!

Like that.

But, I’m trying to appreciate all of the homemade leaps and bounds my body has acquired over the years.

I can’t say I do yet, but I can say that I know I should, and I’m making an effort?

Which is part of the fight, right?

Accepting that you’re okay (maybe even better than okay?!) and then believing it every moment of every day?

I’m at the accepting it part, and now I just have to work on believing it a lot.

Which is partly what the Blogger Body Calendar thing was all about for me.

Believing.

That and @marymac.

Because I heart her and I thought if I took off all of my clothes and said it, she’d believe me.

Maybe if I hide in her bushes???

Let’s hope it never comes to that!

Dumb Mom is Ms. May and the creative force behind the humorous parenting blog parenting BY dummies.  When she’s not being outsmarted by her three small dudes, she’s a professional blogger, freelance writer, and a photographer who reluctantly lives in the boonies of Western Maryland.  She is accustomed to taking the girly photos, not starring in them so this whole thing is a huge deal.  Please say nice things about her or she will, more likely than not, cry.

About BBC2012

This year’s theme is: Survivor and Strength.

To me, above all, women are survivors. They survive domestic abuse, physical, sexual, and mental abuse, and the abuse we sometimes do to ourselves (eating disorders, cutting, etc.). Women survive, and do so beautifully.

This year our participants will show off that survivor strength, not because they are all survivors, but because they all are supporters of every woman who has had to struggle against the violence. All proceeds will go Violence UnSilenced.
