FBW: Interview with Sandra from Body Bliss Central (Ms. August)

FBW stands for Featured Blogger of the Week. Each week we will feature one of our calendar ladies or gentleman. Mondays will be a post written by the FBW and Wednesdays will be an interview of the FBW. If you want to know how you can be a part of the Blogger Body Calendar project, please click here.

Why did you decide to join the Blogger Body Calendar project?

At first I had no idea it was an actual calendar, I thought it was a blog that people read! Then I decided to go ahead because it’s important for me that I keep my word, and that I publicly declare that I’m okay being me, imperfect and unique. It’s started a whole new bucket list!

What do you think a strong woman looks like?

She looks happy, relaxed, and very much confident about her whole self.

What would other people say about your blog? (Oh no. I’ve already gotten bored of your opinion. well, you can answer a different question if you want.)

It makes them think about why they do what they do and think what they think, and just go gently on themselves.

Describe your calendar photo in 140 characters or less.

Green tea ice cream makes my skin glow, honest!

Do you consider yourself successful at blogging? Why or why not?

I think I’m becoming successful at blogging, I’m a work in progress every day, just like my blog.

When I’m not posing for kick-ass calendars, you can usually find me:

Eating tempura green tea ice cream at Nekoya – oh my god it’s to die for! Why would you have antioxidants any other way?

Sandy blogs at www.BodyBlissCentral.com, and is the founder and host of the international telesummit series, The Body Image Revolution, which helps thousands of women transform their relationships with their bodies. The series brings together the leading thinkers and activists in the field of improving body image, in conversation with women who want peace with their bodies.

About BBC2012

This year’s theme is: Survivor and Strength.

To me, above all, women are survivors. They survive domestic abuse, physical, sexual, and mental abuse, and the abuse we sometimes do to ourselves (eating disorders, cutting, etc.). Women survive, and do so beautifully.

This year our participants will show off that survivor strength, not because they are all survivors, but because they all are supporters of every woman who has had to struggle against the violence. All proceeds will go Violence UnSilenced.
